Event Overview

JCI Limerick is excited to host a dynamic and empowering event where our members and attendees become the speakers. This session is designed to help young people aged 18 to 40 step into a supportive public‑speaking environment, build confidence, and present on meaningful topics selected by the JCI Limerick Committee.

Participants will prepare a short PowerPoint presentation and deliver it in front of a friendly audience of peers. This format is inspired by successful speaker‑development models used by organisations such as Toastmasters, Enactus, and other youth‑leadership groups — where the focus is on growth, encouragement, and practical experience.

The aim is simple: learn, grow, and have fun while developing one of the most valuable leadership skills.

Event Format & Flow

1. Welcome & Introduction (3:00 PM – 3:15 PM)

• Opening remarks from the JCI Limerick Committee

• Overview of JCI’s mission and opportunities for young people

• Introduction to the event structure

2. Speaker Briefing (3:15 PM – 3:30 PM)

• Quick run‑through of presentation order

• Tips for effective delivery

• Encouragement and Q&A

3. Youth Speaker Presentations (3:30 PM – 5:00 PM)

Each participant delivers a 5–7 minute presentation on a topic assigned by the committee. Examples of possible themes:

• Leadership Lessons from Limerick — Stories of leadership shaped by Limerick’s workplaces, communities, and local initiatives.

• Community Impact in Limerick — How young people and organisations are improving life across the city and county.

• Personal Growth Stories from Limerick — Journeys of development influenced by Limerick’s culture, education, and community spirit.

• Innovation & Problem‑Solving in Limerick — Creative solutions to local challenges, from regeneration to technology and youth engagement.

• Mental Health & Wellbeing in Limerick — Exploring wellbeing through the lens of local services, community support, and lived experiences.

• Sustainability & the Future of Limerick — Ideas for a greener, more resilient city, aligned with Limerick’s development plans and community goals.

4. Peer Feedback & Positive Highlights (5:00 PM – 5:30 PM)

Inspired by best practices from other speaker‑development societies:

• Each speaker receives two positive highlights and one growth suggestion

• Feedback is supportive, constructive, and focused on improvement

5. Closing Remarks & Next Steps (5:30 PM – 5:45 PM)

• Invitation to future JCI Limerick events

• Opportunities for members to take on leadership roles

• Encouragement to continue developing public‑speaking skills

6. Networking Session (5:45 PM – 6:00 PM)

A relaxed space to connect, share experiences, and build friendships within the JCI community.

This is a free event, but registration is required due to limited capacity. By registering, you’re putting yourself in a position to grow, challenge yourself, and gain valuable experience in a supportive environment.
